East Sydney Community Christian Church

East Sydney Community Christian Church (‘ESCCC’) was formed in 1980 by a group of migrant university students who were mission-minded in their ministry philosophy.

We are an independent, non-denominational church with Reformed Evangelical convictions.

Currently, we have over 150 active members across our English and Mandarin congregations. Culturally we are predominantly south-east Asian, and we proportionally have a large international student population due to our close association with the Overseas Christian Fellowship (‘OCF’) that meets at the University of New South Wales.

Our vision is ‘train and send’. This has mainly found expression by intentionally sending off many of our membership overseas once they complete their university studies in Sydney, with the expectation that they will serve in whatever local church they go back home to, equipped with the gospel knowledge and skills they have received while being part of ESCCC.

Now that we have a permanent presence in Randwick, a growing proportion of both our congregations are based in Sydney for the long term. Therefore our vision of ‘train and send’ needs to adopt new ways of expression, since we expect that proportionally more of our membership will continue worshipping at ESCCC after their studies are completed.
