The NSW Ecumenical Council has a membership of 18 Christian Churches, and "is a instrument of the Churches in NSW whereby they may grow in the understanding and fulfillment of their common calling  to unity and mission". The general secretary is responsible for the overall functioning of the Council, working closely with the Executive, the Core Group and the Commissions. The position is supported by an administration worker.
