The REACH Willoughby SRE Board is looking for an SRE Teacher to work up to 2 days per week at Willoughby Girls High School commencing Term 1, 2019. For over 20 years REACH has employed a qualified full time SRE teacher to deliver and oversee an effective SRE program at Chatswood High School and Willoughby Girls High School.  Currently we teach almost 600 hours of SRE to more than 450 high school students annually.  The program at Chatswood High School in particular has thrived as the primary focus of the full-time teacher, and we are now seeking to employ a teacher dedicated to strengthening the work at Willoughby Girls High School.  The successful applicant will be highly relational, thrive in a classroom situation and be committed to teaching the Bible and helping teenage girls explore and engage with faith and the gospel. Role Whilst a formal role description will be clarified upon appointment, it will involve the following key responsibilities: Teaching SRE classes to students in years 7-12 and leading a team of volunteers to assist in the delivery of the classes (NB:  most classes are currently taught on Wednesday mornings) Oversight of an all ages discipleship group, currently operating on Thursday afternoons. Building rapport with the school as the primary liaison for REACH, including participation in broader school activities to build relationships and strengthen the SRE ministry. An ISCF group currently operates during Friday lunchtime, and involvement would be desirable. The successful applicant would work under the supervision of the REACH board, in consultation with the REACH SRE teacher at Chatswood High School. Qualification and Experience The ideal applicant will hold a degree level qualification in theology and either hold or be willing to study towards a teaching qualification and have teaching experience relevant to SRE.  Any successful applicant will at least be qualified to Diploma level in either teaching or theology.  The successful applicant will have a current Working With Children Check number, have completed a church based Child Protection Training course in the last 3 years, adhere to the Nicene Creed and statement of faith found on the ‘SRE Positions Vacant’ section of the Generate website and be actively involved in an evangelical church.  To teach SRE, you must be authorised to teach SRE by a Department of Education approved SRE provider .   Remuneration Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, in line with Generate and Department of Education guidelines. * Note: Additional Church based employment available in the area Applicants looking for more than 2 days employment per week may be interested in part-time roles being offered by two of our partner churches: Willoughby Park Anglican (2 days) and St. Stephen's Anglican (up to 4 days). Either of these roles could complement the SRE teacher role. Contact either Graham Wintle at St Stephen's ( ) or Tim Swan at Willoughby Park Anglican (  ) for more information about these roles.
