Pastoral Care Coordinator: Female

St Stephen’s Anglican Church in Normanhurst is a vibrant church community with five growing congregations and a range of exciting ministries developing across all ages. We are looking for a female co-worker to join the staff team to lead and develop our ministries of pastoral care.

This is a 3 day per week part-time paid position.

You will be a committed evangelical Christian, with a complementarian understanding of ministry, pastorally warm, organised, and experienced in parish ministry with an emphasis on pastoral care. 

The role includes:

1. Responsibility for developing and implementing strategies and plans for the spiritual and personal wellbeing of congregation members experiencing heightened pastoral needs.

This will involve the coordination of a dedicated cross-congregational team who meet regularly to triage pastoral needs & coordinate care strategies (including meals & transport, Bible reading & prayer, counselling, hospital, retirement village & nursing home visitation).

This will also involve the training and mobilisation of a larger group of dedicated lay members who are equipped to offer effective pastoral care across the St Stephen’s congregations.

1. Playing a visible role of leadership across the congregations; being available as a female voice & counsellor to congregation members; engaging with the parish women’s ministry, mother’s union & senior’s ministries; engaging in Bible reading, discipleship & evangelism to women.
2. Working with a capable and committed parish staff team to develop other ministry initiatives as the needs and opportunities of the Parish develop.

Theological qualifications and experience in pastoral care ministry in a Parish context is preferable. The possibility also exists for the candidate to pursue advanced certification in the area of pastoral care.
