Principal of Mary Andrews College
Founded in 1891, Mary Andrews College exists to equip women to serve. Named after Deaconess Mary Andrews, the College has offered Certificates and Diplomas in Theology and Ministry since 1991, under the Australian College of Theology, with a focus on pastoral care and discipleship. These courses are delivered flexibly, to enable access for every woman who loves Jesus and desires to serve Him faithfully in her church and local community context. In addition, this year, the College will launch the ACT’s new Graduate Certificate of Pastoral Care for Mental Health, a professional development pathway for ministry workers, professional health care workers, and Christians working in schools. Other recent developments at the College include the integration of the Mental Health and Pastoral Care institute into the College and the creation of the Dean of Students role to facilitate student support from admission to graduation.
The Principal of Mary Andrews College provides Christian leadership to the College – spiritual, academic, strategic and operational. Anglican Deaconess Ministries is looking to appoint a new Principal of the College. The Principal will be an exceptional Christian leader, a communicant Anglican with an unequivocal commitment to reformed evangelical theology, who has demonstrated a deep commitment to the theological formation of women, as expressed in the mission and vision of Anglican Deaconess Ministries. With a mature faith and godly character, they will provide excellent Christian leadership to the College and will oversee the spiritual and academic life of the College and lead its future growth.
A well-adjusted and emotionally intelligent leader is sought, who can help team members flourish and develop, while driving change, and influencing others. A pastoral focus, an entrepreneurial mindset, a passion for theological education, and an ability to build community are key qualities. The ability to be an inspiration and role model for students is highly desirable.
A postgraduate level qualification in Theology, Divinity or Ministry is preferred. Ordination in the Anglican Church would be highly regarded, but not essential. Qualifications in education, or more specifically adult education, would be highly desirable.
