Job Description

Prayerfully, New Life City Church (www.nlcc.org.au) invites applications for the position of Senior Pastor. We are searching for an individual who feels called to a full-time position.

Our Senior Pastor is concluding his current ministry and as a result we are searching for a new Senior Pastor to lead our church and ministry team into the next season.

We as a church need someone who has a shepherd’s heart and a desire to minister to our congregation and broader community and to preach the whole counsel of God’s Word over the long haul.

The new Senior Pastor must demonstrate a robust personal faith characterized by the daily study of scripture, prayer and the outward fruit of one who is Spirit-filled. This indwelling is reflected in genuine spiritual growth, i.e., developing the character of Christ, manifested in sensitively led worship, and evidenced by grace, humility, and godliness in the minister’s daily walk.


Our Church

New Life City Church (NLCC), a member of the Australian Christian Churches of Western Australia (ACCWA), is located in Kewdale, Western Australia.

NLCC was founded in 1998 out of a bible study group and has grown to its current 200+ worshippers who meet at one of 2 English Sunday services.

Various ministries within the church include Sunday school, music worship, youth and young adults ministries, ushering/hospitality ministry, life group meetings, monthly prayer meetings, hosting the Belmont Ministers’ forum plus support of missions locally and overseas.

We also host local community events like a Tuesday free coffee day, a Family Fun Day and Christmas Lunch to reach out to our local community.


The Role

Help us achieve our Church Vision: To transform our communities through a living relationship with Jesus Christ in passionate worship, persistent prayer, serving hands and victorious faith-living.

At its core this role will work with others to grow individuals to maturity, fulfil the Great Commission, touch our multi-ethnic community with the love of Christ and in everything bring glory to Him.

Working with the Board of Elders, the Senior Pastor has the responsibility for the spiritual health, growth, overall leadership of the congregation and day-to-day operations of the church.

To this end, the Senior Pastor role includes:

  • Preach and teach from the Word of God with clarity.
  • Relate to and communicate effectively with the younger generations.
  • Possess charisma and strong leadership with love and grace.
  • Diligence in visitation to congregation's homes, hospital, praying for the sick, encouraging, and comforting those in need. Recording and follow up the members and new visitors of the church.
  • Work with leadership teams/subject matter experts on the operational running of a church including, strategy, finances and asset management
  • conducting premarital and family counselling, performing marriages, funerals and other special memorial services according to tradition, keeping records as require by church.
  • You will be a visionary leader, who can cast a clear and compelling vision and motivate others to strive toward its accomplishment.




Qualifications and Skills

  • meets the biblical qualification of Titus 1: 5-9, 1 Timothy 3, and 1 Peter 5
  • Age: preferably 35 years and older
  • Has Australian residency status
  • A Diploma of Ministry from an accredited Theological training institute is the minimal expectation.
  • Ministry credentials with ACCWA or other recognised Ministers’ Credentials entity
  • At least 5-10 years’ experience leading a church as either a Senior Pastor or Assistant Pastor/2IC
  • Being a Christ-centred, Bible believing church it is essential that our Senior Pastor is a formally trained, gifted communicator who is a person of high integrity, vision and who has a high regard for the centrality of Scripture in preaching and teaching.
  • Your beliefs are aligned to the ACCWA Statement of Beliefs, along with the vision of NLCC
  • Be fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Have a sense of humour
  • Be devoted to the Word of God with a strong biblical focus.
  • The Senior Pastor must be self-motivated with a desire to create strong personal and pastoral relationships
  • Counsel, support and pray with those who are facing difficulties and demonstrate a high level of relational skills.
  • Friendly and professional presence, including capacity for discretion and privacy
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Nurturing the next generation of leaders
  • Well-developed administrative and time management skills; self-motivated with the ability to work independently, multitask and balance competing priorities
