WORSHIP PASTOR (or Coordinator)

2 days pw – Paid Staff Role

REPORTS TO:

Senior Pastor and Worship Ministry Focus Leader

OVERVIEW

Torquay Christian Fellowship (TCF) is a medium-sized fellowship located on the Surf Coast in Victoria and is a constituted member church of the Baptist Union of Victoria, with a dedicated vision to: Declare Jesus; Develop Disciples; and Glorify God in every area of our lives as Christians. 

TCF is looking for a spiritually-mature, biblically-grounded, and musically-gifted, Christian to lead the worship ministries at TCF under the direction of the Senior Pastor. The scope of this role is to facilitate and promote discipleship, community and mission through worship. The ideal candidate has experience leading worship at a similar sized church, experience in shepherding worship teams, and a broad knowledge of Christian worship music across multiple styles and generations. 

TCF is seeking a person who has a confirmed calling to ministry and maintains a lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9) – someone who has high personal integrity and seeks to empower others to use their gifts. This person needs to be a team player who will show initiative as part of the Ministry Team and the role requires the successful applicant to have an acceptance of the BUV statement of faith. RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversight

In conjunction with the Senior Pastor and the Ministry Focus Area leader for Worship:

  • Provide oversight to determine and plan the direction, content and style of worship services – including music, creative and technical aspects and maintaining the TCF song list.
  • Roster, resource, train & facilitate at least 4 worship teams while leading one of those teams
  • Investigate other avenues of creative workshops, including the invitation of resources outside of the TCF community.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all musical instruments owned by the church.
  • Manage an annual worship ministry budget and be able to work within that budget.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership over all music ministries in the fellowship and coordinate the musical segments of services.
  • To be in regular communication with worship team leaders and team members to give encouragement and feedback. Engage in regular meetings with worship leaders and teams.
  • Will shepherd, train, manage, and care for the volunteer worship teams.
  • Attend all church staff meetings (weekly) and retreats (as required).

A person who:

  • is self-aware, well-organised and motivated; a life-long learner who loves people and enjoys engaging with a diversity of individuals and groups.
  • demonstrates the Fruits of the Spirit in word and deed as they carry out their role.

Equipping People

Grows, Trains and Encourages volunteers by:

  • Developing a process to regularly identify, give opportunity to and support new volunteers in the TCF worship ministry.
  • Facilitating training and meetings for the worship leaders and teams as required.

Other Responsibilities

  • To be able to regularly lead worship and be part of extra services and events where possible and where time allows (e.g Carols).
  • Have an understanding of the technical aspects of the worship ministry. (PA, Multimedia, etc).
  • Look for ways to inspire non-musical worship experiences at TCF.
  • To manage and facilitate CCLI reporting. (SongSelect, etc).
  • Undertake professional development as applicable (Costs to be considered and discussed).

Requirements

  • Be committed to the TCF vision to ‘Declare Jesus – Develop Disciples – Glorify God.
  • Proven experience in leading worship and managing teams in a church setting.
  • Attend Sunday service/s and be an active member of the TCF community.
  • Significant skill as a vocalist and/or instrumentalist and be proficient in reading music.
  • A Diploma level in Theology or Ministry or currently undertaking such studies desired.
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current National Police Check

Stipend

  • Ministry stipend and allowances in accordance with the Baptist Union of Victoria Guidelines and based on experience and qualifications.
  • Laptop or desktop computer will be provided by TCF.
  • 2-day time allocation to be decided in consultation and agreement with the Senior Pastor and Worship Ministry Focus Leader.
  • Negotiated phone allowance and reimbursements of agreed ministry expenses.
