We are looking for a Youth Minister to start at our church part-time in early 2024.
Position Details
Position Title: Youth Minister - Kingaroy Church of Christ
Reports to: Lead Pastor - Kingaroy Church of Christ
Agreement: Three year contract, with review after first six months
Salary: $32.98 to $40.31/hr - $34,304.21 to $41,927.37 p.a, based on 20 hrs/wk (Prorata of $65,178 to $79,662 p.a.) - dependent on qualifications
Hours: 20 hrs/wk
Annual Leave: 13 days pa (Prorata of 5wks pa)
Residency: Applicants required to currently reside in Australia
Organisation Overview
Kingaroy Church of Christ is affiliated with Churches of Christ in Queensland and is located in the agricultural town of Kingaroy, in the beautiful South Burnett. Kingaroy Church of Christ has a current membership of 96, and in 2023 an average in person attendance of 128 and online attendance of 8 households per week.

Position Overview
To lead the ministries to youth in the church and community, and support activities aligned with the vision and values of Kingaroy Church of Christ.
Position Responsibilities
Biblical Teaching
- To lead the Combined Churches Youth Group as a ministry of the Kingaroy Church of Christ
- To provide biblical teaching for youth in the church
- To encourage biblical centred parenting courses for parents in the church and community
- To disciple and mentor emerging leaders in youth ministries
- To partner with the Sunday School Coordinator to help children transition into the Youth Group
Love and fellowship
- To encourage the active participation of youth in the church family
- To provide pastoral care to youth and families in times of need or grief
Outreach Focus
- Support and promote overseas and local outreach supported by the church
- In school settings engage with and care for the youth in the community who have no experience of church
General
- Provide monthly reports to the elders and deacons on ministry accomplishments, activities and needs
- Provide a detailed report for the AGM
- Be part of an annual performance review by the lead pastor and elders
- To undertake two paid days of professional development per year
- To maintain an outside spiritual mentor and meet regularly with them
- Be eligible for and maintain a current Blue Card
Key Selection Criteria
SC1: Christian Faith
- Committed Christ follower
- Regular attender at church worship services
SC2: Strong biblical teaching
- The completion of or current enrollment in a Bible college diploma or degree course is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to be a godly role model through engaging and building relationships with youth
- Demonstrated level of experience in working with teenagers
SC3: Leadership
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the church congregation, church leaders and community leaders
- Proven organisational skills in leading plans and activities
- Have the capacity to lead others well and draw in other/new leaders
SC4: A care and passion for teenagers and their families
- Love for teenagers and strong desire to see them grow into the image of Christ
- Ability to engage and connect well with youth and their families
SC5: A passion for outreach locally and abroad
- A desire for the church to be outward focused
SC6: A passion for discipleship and mentoring
- A demonstrated ability to grow youth's spiritual potential

Youth Minister - Duties List
Combined Churches Youth Group [CCYG]
- Lead CCYG program in regular Friday night activities, and other activities that might include youth serving days (Service Saturdays), and Core Group (Bible Study) prior to regular Friday night activities
- Mentor CCYG leaders and helpers
- Run internal training for CCYG leaders and helpers as required
- Organise external training for CCYG leaders and helpers
- Ensure CCYG compliance with Churches of Christ Safe Ministries program
Pastoral Support
- Provide pastoral support to Kingaroy Church of Christ [KCofC] and CCYG teenagers and their families
- Organise training/workshops for parents & families on raising teenagers in today's culture
Discipleship
- Engage the youth of KCofC in Bible study outside of CCYG
- Engage and involve parents of CCYG teenagers in helping and leading CCYG activities
- Encourage and mentor [KCofC] teenagers in serving in KCofC services and ministry activities
General
- Seek opportunities to engage with local high schools
- Provide regular written and in person communication to the church on youth ministries
