Job Description

ROLE DESCRIPTION: YOUTH & CHILDRENS COORDINATOR
Title: Youth & Children’s Coordinator
Reports to: FCC Elders
Date of Commencement: Term 1
Probation period: 6 months
Based at: Faith Community Church, Glenmount Rd, Buderim Q4556
Hours: 24 hours per week (to be worked flexibly including weekends)
Salary level: Commensurate with the role and previous experience

The Faith Community Church (FCC) Youth and Children’s Coordinator role is a PART TIME Permanent position. The Coordinator will be engaged for 24 hours a week. During this time the Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  1. Teach and lead our children and youth to know Jesus and make Jesus known
  2. Develop and deliver a vision and strategy for youth and children at FCC in collaboration with current leaders and elders, finding innovative and contextual ways to do outreach, discipleship and build community amongst the young people
  3. Prepare devotional material for each programme throughout the term
  4. Coordinate and assist other leaders in preparing activities (craft / games) for each programme, including outline of rules and sourcing resources with funds allocated
  5. Communicate and collaborate with the leaders of each programme to coordinate, develop and deliver the programmes for each term
    a. Providing the above-mentioned material in good time before each session
    b. Hearing feedback and making necessary changes to material to improve the outcome
  6. Communicate with parents of the youth/children involved in each programme
    a. Providing information of what is coming up and any actions they need to take to prepare for the programme
  7. Build and maintain a roster of leaders for each children’s and youth programme
  8. Be rostered on periodically throughout the year to assist with the youth and children’s programmes
  9. Mentor, train and equip leaders by providing training or source appropriate training programmes so they can grow and improve in leading the different youth and children’s ministries. Ensure each leader has done basic “new leader training” and the required Child Safe training.
  10. Work with our FCC Blue Card manager to maintain a register of all leader’s Blue Cards and ensure all details are valid and up to date.
  11. Pray regularly for our FCC youth, children and families
  12. Social Media of Youth / Children’s ministries – posting, maintaining and monitoring the social media accounts for these ministries – as an avenue for advertising and sharing information

In addition to fulfilling the above responsibilities the Coordinator is expected to:

  1. Have a personal salvation relationship with Jesus Christ
  2. Be consistent and diligent in personal devotions and prayer
  3. Live a life that honours God to the best of their ability
  4. Be an active part of Faith Community Church including attending Sunday services regularly
  5. Attend monthly Business Meetings (7pm, 2nd Monday of each month) at FCC
  6. Attend the FCC youth and children’s programs unless indicated unavailability
  7. Attend and support the Renewed evening service (approx. once a term)
  8. Be involved in Church Camp (usually October / November)
  9. Assist with the Christmas Carols programme in December
  10. Seek to develop and expand the kids and youth ministry in line with the purpose and goals of Faith Community Church in collaboration with kids and youth leaders under the leadership of the church elders.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Youth and Children’s Coordinator will be provided with an office space and basic resources in order to complete the above outlined tasks.
The Coordinator will report to the church Elders on a regular basis including a diary of hours and tasks completed for each week


ROLE REQUIREMENTS

KEY REQUIREMENTS OF THE APPLICANT

The applicant must fulfil the following requirements to be considered for the role:

  1. Qualifications: minimum of Cert IV in Youth Ministry (or similar) or be currently in the process of completing the coursework for the qualification or prepared to undertake the study of such a course in order to be equipped for the role
  2. Have a valid Blue Card (Queensland’s Working with Children Check)
  3. Be familiar and up to date with Child Safety Policies

OTHER OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. The following are preferred but not required:
    1. Have prior experience in a similar role
    2. Have a valid First Aid Certificate
    3. Open drivers’ licence
    4. Car with comprehensive insurance
