Job Description

The Message of the Cross Ministries Family Worship Centre Ipswich is seeking a Minister to be part of the leadership team to encourage the local believers to gather in local worship, to continue with the work that was started by two faithful Aboriginal Christian women.

The Church

The Message of the Cross Ministries International Network is a Pentecostal Full Gospel Church affiliated with Send the Rain Ministries World Missions Fellowship that is committed to taking God’s Redemption Plan – the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – the Message of the Cross to our nation.  We do serve as both a local church and International Missions ministry.

The Church (The Message of the Cross Ministries Family Worship Centre Ipswich) whilst small in number have been gathering at Deebing Creek Mission for Sunday services, before COVID-19 the yearly 'The Cross of Christ Revival Rally Australia' birthed of the Holy Spirit was due to run in June 2020 however has been postponed till 2021. The Rally will attract international, national and locals attracting about 200 worshipers, even more.  The church also distributes a national newsletter 3 times per year called 'The Gospel'. Along with this, the church has recently opened their doors to a local Support Service in the Ipswich CBD area, whereby offering food hampers, soup kitchen and an Op Shop which is grown drastically by the grace of God.  Within two months, we have expanded.  We seek to faithfully to present Gods word, as we seek to exercise pastoral care to our local community, and as we seek to reach out to the community through service and fellowship.  

We aim to grow in preaching the Cross of Christ 'preaching Christ crucified'. 

The Minister will have

  • A deep commitment to Christ, to prayer and to spiritual growth at personal and congregational levels
  • A deep desire for pastoral care in the congregation and the community
  • A willingness to serve with the Eldership team
  • Appropriate theological qualifications
  • Ministerial experience in a church of similar size and/or demographics,
  • Accreditation, or able to be accredited, with the Jimmy Swaggart Bible College

The successful minister will work with the Elders and the Church Board to achieve the following responsibilities:

  • To spiritually serve the wider congregation
  • To be a leader in pastoral care and to encourage and support the existing pastoral care activities
  • Work with the worship leaders to plan and execute the worship services of the church
  • With the Elders, be responsible for the preaching and teaching ministries of the church in accordance with the church’s statement of beliefs (www.tmotcministries.com.au).
  • Conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms (full immersion)
  • Participate in relationships with other denominations and churches of Ipswich
  • To lead by example and equip the congregation to develop and deliver the ministries of the church,
  • To lead the management of Crossfire Support Services operations with the assistance of staff and volunteers who operate the day to day service deliver
  • To participate in various community organisations and encourage the congregation likewise.

It is anticipated that the duties for this role will be approximately 4 days per week, being 0.8 EFT. Family accommodation (a 3x2 home) is available in Ipswich for minimal rent and food assist is avaiable.
