Ku-ring-gai Christian Education Association Inc (KCEA) is an ecumenical association seeking to appoint an SRE Teacher to deliver a regular SRE program to students in years 7-10 at Ku-ring-gai High School, and potentially to co-ordinate seminars for years 11-12. The position has a four day a week workload.
KCEA invites applicants who have demonstrated experience in teaching, building relationships, an enthusiasm for working with young people and a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in a professional classroom setting. The successful applicant will be experienced in using current teaching methodology and classroom technology.
The position includes classroom SRE teaching, co-ordinating and leading a lunchtime student group along with other groups or activities as the role develops. The applicant may also have additional skills or abilities that could be useful in other school activities, by agreement with the school and committee. The role will also include preparation and editing of the KCEA quarterly newsletter, ongoing liaison with and reporting to the committee, and attendance at committee meetings and supporter breakfasts.
KCEA teaches an ecumenical SRE curriculum that has been authorised by all the member churches. The delivery focuses on inclusivity of all students no matter what their belief or cultural background, whilst sharing a Christian perspective.
The applicant will have obtained or be actively pursuing a theological qualification from an approved institution, and a formal teaching qualification is desirable. Salary will be paid in accordance with qualifications and experience and guided by the NSW Department of Education pay scales.
The successful applicant will need to supply their Working with Children Check Number.
